Strengthening families
What is Strengthening Families?
The defining feature of Strengthening Families is its focus on marriage and relationship support and on parenting support.
In this context, family support aims to help people achieve a strong and stable family life. The Government puts supporting parents and carers at the heart of its approach to improving children's lives. It wishes to ensure support where it is needed or wanted, and to enable parents and children to thrive and reach their full potential.
Family support includes activities which help individuals either in their relationships, and/or parenting roles to strengthen, maintain and develop their relationships with each other, as parents and with their children.
Strengthening Families recognises the important role the VCS can play in achieving the Every Child Matters outcomes. These are outcomes aimed at all children and families, to protect them, to promote their wellbeing, and to support all children to develop their full potential.
Update on the Strengthening Families Grants programme.
We are pleased to announce that decisions on the new development grants (projects applied for under Strand A, B, and C) have now been approved and details of successful applicants are set out in table below.
Organisations will be informed, from Monday 5 July, whether they have been successful. All applicants (successful and unsuccessful) will be informed in writing of our decision over the coming weeks. Unsuccessful applicants are invited to make a written request for detailed feedback about their application if they wish to do so.
The delay in announcing awarded grants has been necessary to allow careful consideration in the light of the planned VCS rationalisation. We would like to apologise for this delay and any inconvenience it might have caused.
