LSC Involvement

Local LSCs have played an active role in supporting local authorities to set up and develop Step in to Learning. These programmes support a range of LSC targets, including:

  • Early years and workforce development
  • Skills for Life – as a result of improved skills to support and signpost parents and early years staff within early years settings.

Please see further information on taking Step in to Learning forward locally please see the section on Local Authority Involvement.

"Step in to Learning offers lasting development opportunities to the early years workforce. Alongside parents, they now play one of the single biggest roles in the development of our children. A highly skilled workforce is essential if we are to meet the aims of Every Child Matters. Step in to Learning offers the opportunity to assess their own skills and brush them up. These opportunities have been widely taken up."

Beverley Hughes, Minister for Children, Young People and Families

"The delivery of the Step in to Learning training to local early years and childcare providers and settings helps contribute to the local Learning Skills Council’s ambitious QCA-approved Level 2 targets."
