Campaign for Learning – National Family Learning Network

Set up in 2001 as a partnership venture between Campaign for Learning, ContinYou and NIACE. Provides free information and support to Family Learning practitioners, including a directory of funding opportunities.

CWDC

National charity that represents registered childminders in England and Wales.

National Childcare charity which promotes quality childcare and education for all children in the early years.

National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE)

Registered charity involved in post-school education. Aims to support an increase in the number of adults engaged in learning, and to improve and widen learning opportunities.

National Family Learning Network

Ofsted

The inspectorate for children and learners in England. Contributes to the provision of better education and care through effective inspection and regulation. Due to merge with the Adult Learning Inspectorate and Social Care Inspectorate to form one inspectorate for education, training, social care and skills in April 2007.

Pre-school Learning Alliance

A leading educational charity specialising in the early years. Provides practical support to over 15,000 early years settings and make a positive contribution to the care and education of over 800,000 young children and their families each year. Also, supports and actively promotes parental involvement in all aspects of its work.

SkillsActive

The Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure and Learning. Established by Employers in Sport and Recreation, Health and Fitness, Playwork, The Outdoors and Caravan industries.

Skills for Life

A major national Government strategy, launched in March 2001, aiming to improve the literacy, numeracy and/or language skills of 1.5 million adults by 2007. Includes information about the National Certificates in Literacy and Numeracy.

Quality Improvement Agency (QIA) Skills for Life Quality Initiative website. A national site providing information on a wide range of training opportunities for Skills for Life teachers and learner supporters.

Sure Start

A major Government programme to deliver the best start in life for children in financially disadvantaged areas, by bringing together early education, childcare, health and family support services.

Talent (training adult literacy, ESOL and numeracy teachers)

Promote quality in adult literacy, ESOL and numeracy provision. Training and supporting teachers and sharing information, resources and training opportunities with providers.

Training and Development Agency for School (TDA)

Works to improve the training and development of the whole school workforce.

Tribal CTAD

CTAD managed Phase Three of the Step in to Learning programme on behalf of DfES. Creates multimedia products, develops products for high-profile clients, leads major government projects, provides strategic consultancy and partners in many major EU projects.
