Module 4 - Next Steps
Aim
To provide the opportunity to explore next steps:
- for parents/carers after they have been signposted
- for early years and childcare staff after completing the Step in to Learning Training and Development Programme
Through this module delegates will be able to:
- understand the key features of adult learning and family literacy, numeracy and ESOL programmes and their relevance for parents and carers
- know where to signpost parents/carers to family literacy, language and numeracy programmes
- offer access to, provide information on, or take national qualifications in literacy, language and numeracy
- offer access to family learning, other Skills for Life provision or vocational courses at local colleges, for example NVQs in Childcare with literacy, language and numeracy support
- consider how to take up the opportunities for professional development and/or accreditation for early years or childcare staff through the Step in to Learning training and development programme
- understand how to refer colleagues to the Step in to Learning Personal Skills Check
- plan next steps in implementing the Step in to Learning programme in their setting.
