Foundation Stage Information Pack
Evidence confirms that children do better when parents understand more about the learning and teaching that takes place in the early years setting their child attends and are better able to support learning in the home.
The Foundation Stage Information Pack for Parents was developed as a resource for practitioners to use when introducing the Foundation Stage Curriculum to the parents/carers of children attending their setting.
During the summer term of 2003, the pack was sent to all Early Years Development and Childcare Partnerships to distribute to settings delivering the Foundation Stage curriculum.
The pack contains:
A Video – The Foundation Stage video was filmed in a range of early years settings and shows learning and teaching in all six areas of learning. The video has been broken down into 10 short clips that explain the structure of the Foundation Stage curriculum, its areas of learning, stepping stones and early learning goals.
A Leaflet – The Foundation Stage leaflet has been
designed for parents. The leaflet summarises the main messages of the video and
provides guidance and information about where additional information can be
found. The leaflet is available in the following languages; English,
Bengali, Gujerati, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Greek, Turkish, Arabic, Chinese,
Vietnamese and Somali.
Posters - The pack contains posters that show children
learning in a range of situations, both indoors and outdoors, alone, with other
children and with adults.
