Child and motherThe Sure Start, Extended Schools and Childcare Group is responsible for:

  • raising the quality of learning and development opportunities for children from birth to five years
  • giving children the best possible start to their learning journey
  • policy and standards in relation to regulation and inspection of childcare and nursery education, and for making sure that services are inclusive and quality assured.

Our aim

Our aim is to support and develop policy for the implementation of a Foundation Stage in early education, and from birth to three years, through supporting practitioner training and professional development.
